I thought you needed wireless Internet to media share with the PS3 (get music, pictures, and videos off of your computer to your PS3), but you can do it with a wired connection also.

Thought I would let those of you know who would like to just have your PS3 connect to your computer and transfer stuff a lot faster.

I was using my PSP to transfer files to my Playstation 3. I can just connect to my computer from my PS3 now. I had wireless a long time ago and hated it!

I'd like to share music from my computer to my PS3, i have wireless though. I searched on how to do this a few months back and was told i needed Nero. It was a bit confusing too.

I'll try this method with wireless. Hope it works.

There's no reason why wireless can't transfer between local machines just as fast as a direct connection. You'd just plug in the local IP of the other machine as a server.

Brilliant it's working! I've got all my songs of my PC streaming on my PS3. I'm gonna test this with xvid movies now.

Make sure your videos are in the main 'videos' folder under your documents. You could do that or make sure you have the folder your videos are in shared. The Playstation 3 will not search your entire computer, but just your documents unless you tell it to do other folders.
